Whole-Store
Consulting
Just as your
personal well-being is dependent on a number of interconnected systems,
the health of your bookstore is based on the successful interaction of
the many aspects of retail life. Whole-store consulting is a comprehensive
approach which assumes that improvement in any one area may
hinge upon taking positive action in another. Services may include consulting
in the areas of operations, financials, inventory control, marketing,
communication, business planning, and leadership development.
Taking a
whole-store approach, we may work together in a sequential way—starting,
for example, by redefining your store’s core mission in order to
move forward with a new business idea—or we may identify those areas
that need critical attention—perhaps your financial situation—and
begin our work there. When it is appropriate, we also involve staff members
in reviewing challenges and uncovering opportunities. Usually we find that
staff participation facilitates store-wide follow-through and yields the
best results.
Whole-store
consulting is as much a working philosophy as it is a consulting service.
It means we look at any project from a variety of perspectives, and make
recommendations that are sound and achievable within the larger picture
of your business.
